Join the Testing Center as a Program Assistant I - Proctor and play an important role in supporting a fair, secure, and positive testing experience. In this position you will deliver excellent customer service, uphold testing integrity and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to support the mission of the Testing Center by assisting individuals in reaching their academic and professional goals by providing a secure, friendly, and comfortable environment where exams are administered, proctored, and scored with integrity. The SDSTATE-TC adheres to the National College Testing Association Professional Standards and Guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Test administration and proctoring
  • SDBOR policy and guidelines in regard to testing and prior learning credit
  • Educational work experience with individuals requiring special accommodations

Skill & Ability to:

  • Ability to obtain certification from Pearson, Meazure, Praxis, CLEP, ACCUPLACER, ATI, Prov, PSI, ACT, and other exam sponsors
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and flexibility
  • Computer skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical problems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work as a team

This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are 8-5, M-F; however, there are times when the position may need to work outside of those hours or on Saturday to accommodate special testing sessions.

There are long periods of sitting when proctoring/reading/scribing exams. This position requires typing. The Testing Center building has testing on two different levels and there is no elevator in the building, so the ability to climb stairs is necessary. There are time when staff work on computers and need to be able to crouch, bend, stoop, twist, and crawl under tables. Carrying boxes of testing materials is also required.
