Description:
The Opportunity:
Skagit Valley College (SVC) is accepting applications for a Bilingual Program Assistant with the WorkFirst and Early Achievers Grant programs. This position will be housed in the Workforce Grants office and will communicate with students during their enrollment process into the WorkFirst and EAG programs, as well as during their time utilizing funding.
Some students may be receiving benefits from DSHS, experiencing homelessness, considered low-income, or need additional assistance; it is important for the person in this position to have a student-centered philosophy - students are the top priority. This position is a 12-month classified position, working 100% full-time, which is 40 hours per week. The incumbent will work in-person Monday through Friday. This position is grant-funded and contingent on continued grant funding. This position reports to the Workforce Grants Manager and will assist with administrative activities associated with WorkFirst and Early Achievers. The position will work closely with Workforce Grants staff, as well as other Student Services staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Workfirst Compliance and Bilingual Support:
- Assist with the completion, tracking, and documenting of all attendance for WorkFirst students for compliance with SBCTC. This includes Vocational Education students, ELA students, and Basic Education students;
- Create and fill out a weekly spreadsheet to track attendance that has been turned in, any excused/unexcused absences, and assist in documenting these instances in eJAS;
- Communicate with current and future WorkFirst students regarding attendance and reminders when they are due;
- Hold workshops to assist students with the completion of their attendance hours when necessary;
- Assist in the creation of the quarterly attendance forms within FormStack for each student;
- Assist WorkFirst students with general WorkFirst questions;
- Check the Workfirst email and respond to student questions or forward to the Grant Specialist as appropriate;
- Assist WorkFirst students at the front desk with completion of necessary documents: Service Requests, Applications, etc.;
- Assist with contacting Spanish-speaking students by phone and email, and assist in student meetings with the Workfirst Grant Specialist;
- Assist with contacting referred students to begin the intake process;
- Other duties as assigned associated with WorkFirst.
Early Achievers Compliance and Bilingual Support:
- Collaborate with the Early Achievers Grant Specialist to support Spanish-speaking EAG students with intake, enrollment, and course offerings, and graduation applications;
- Support Early Achievers students through the initial enrollment process as well as ongoing support throughout their program, by phone, Zoom, email, and in-person;
- Assist in connecting with local EAG provider sites and assist with outreach efforts;
- Assist in providing information sessions when needed and requested;
- Other duties as assigned related to Early Achievers.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience;
- Experience working with multicultural and low-income students/clients;
- Experience using Microsoft platforms to track information;
- Experience assisting with projects and tracking mechanisms;
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Services, Education, or related field;
- Prior experience working in a community college environment, particularly in Student Services;
- Experience with ctcLink and TargetX systems, or similar CRM platform experience.

Salary and Benefits:
- Salary is based on Range 39, Step A, $3,393 per month with periodic increments to $4,410 per month.
- This position is eligible for the Multilingual premium pay of five (5%) percent.
- The multilingual pay is incorporated in the posted salary range.
- Starting salary may be dependent on education, qualifications, and experience.
- Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
- This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and is dependent upon continued grant funding.
- This is a union-represented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
- Retirement, medical, and insurance benefits are provided in accordance with state regulations.
