    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Program Chair for Human Resource provides academic leadership for the program, overseeing curriculum, faculty performance, assessment, student progression, and continuous improvement. The Chair uses data and industry engagement to strengthen program quality and relevance, ensures consistent academic standards and policy compliance. The role is responsible for faculty quality of delivery and development, participates in governance, and maintains an active teaching role.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Program strategy and continuous improvement: Use enrollment, retention, course performance, assessment, and completion data to identify issues and lead improvements to the program.
    • Curriculum leadership: Support curriculum review, revision, sequencing, and alignment with industry expectations, accreditation standards, and HR professional competencies.
    • Faculty leadership and development: Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, mentoring, and professional development for HRM faculty, overall supervision, and performance monitoring.
    • Academic quality assurance: Ensure consistency of academic standards, course delivery, grading practices, learning outcomes, and student experience across modalities and instructors.
    • Program assessment: Oversee assessment of program learning outcomes and coordinate resulting improvement plans.
    • Student retention and progression: Monitor student persistence, academic barriers, course progression, and graduation pathways and coordinate interventions when trends emerge.
    • Industry relevance: Maintain relationships with employers, professional organizations, alumni, and advisory board members to ensure the curriculum remains aligned with workforce needs.
    • Faculty staffing strategy: Anticipate faculty needs, identify credentialing gaps, develop the faculty bench, and ensure appropriate instructional coverage.
    • Program advocacy: Serve as the primary academic advocate and subject-matter leader for HRM within the School and across the University.
    • Policy and governance leadership: Participate in School and University governance and ensure faculty understand and consistently apply academic policies and procedures.
    • Course delivery: Teach 6-8 courses per academic year or as otherwise determined by the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business
    • Academic Governance: Participate in at least two university committees or as otherwise determined by the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Required master's in human resource management (or an MBA with a focus in Human Resource Management). Preferred Ph.D. or equivalent in the field of Human Resource Management
    • At least ten years of experience working at the senior level in Human Resource Management.
    • At least five years of experience teaching in the traditional classroom and online using Blackboard or similar programs.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
    • The ability to perform scholarly activities as appropriate when warranted or requested.
    • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, well-organized, and a team player in a fast-paced work environment.
    • If the doctorate is not in the field of Human Resource Management, the candidate must possess a minimum of a master's degree in human resource management or a doctorate with a minimum of 15 graduate credit hours in Human Resource Management.
    • Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification.
    • Preference will be given to a candidate who has earned a degree online from a regionally accredited university.
