Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The program coordinator of Computed Tomography will be a member of a team that supports student achievement and success from recruitment through graduation and beyond, advancing economic mobility, personal empowerment, and transformed communities. The program coordinator will provide coordination, oversight and leadership for an assigned program that leads to a certification, diploma or associate degree. This individual is also responsible for program development, equipment and facilities, personnel, and financial responsibilities as outlined below.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree Note: Degrees must be obtained from an institution accredited by an agency that is recognized by the United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC
- Hold a current certification with ARRT in Computed Tomography (CT)
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist in a healthcare setting
- Minimum of two (2) years documented education or experience in instructional methodology.
- Experience teaching hybrid, online, and/or multimodal courses
- Experience with distance learning technologies
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- Master's degree in related area
- Five (5) years of experience as a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist in a healthcare setting
Essential Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and other duties as required.
- Conduct college courses of appropriate quality for undergraduate students as assigned by the Department Chair and approved by the Dean.
- Oversee the administration, organization, supervision, and continuous quality improvement of the program.
- Provide academic oversight, including curriculum planning, development, and review, ensuring alignment with SACS-approved competencies.
- Design and implement meaningful instructional activities that foster critical thinking, experimentation, and a supportive learning environment.
- Evaluate student learning through well-designed assessment tools and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in curriculum development, mentoring students, and connecting students with academic and non-academic support services as needed.
- Assist in the development of new programs and pathways within the area of expertise.
- Develop, review, and update course descriptions, objectives, and outlines; create new courses as necessary.
- Ensure course content covers required competencies and adheres to departmental guidelines.
- Order supplies, materials, and equipment for labs and prepare lab activities and assignments.
- Fulfill responsibilities as clinical or lab instructor, supervising students in practical settings.
- Make recommendations for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilities.
- Maintain proficiency with program requirements for advisees and serve as a faculty mentor.
- Use the college's student information system and other technology to assist with advising and administrative functions.
- Develop and participate in professional development plans approved by the Department Chair and Dean.
- Maintain current licensure, certification, and professional credentials; actively participate in relevant professional organizations.
- Attend department, division, and college-wide meetings; serve on committees and participate in college activities.
- Promote the college and department through community engagement and public relations opportunities.
- Assist in planning and conducting advisory committee meetings and provide information for institutional publications.
- Recommend teaching assignments for instructors and manage faculty, preceptors, and support staff in both academic and clinical phases.
- Orient new instructors and participate in faculty recruitment, interviewing, and employment recommendations.
- Support employee evaluation through classroom observations and performance feedback.
- Ensure all faculty are informed of institutional policies and procedures.
- Recruit, credential, and retain qualified part-time instructors.
- Maintain accurate records of students and adhere to institutional policies regarding confidentiality and security.
- Provide leadership within assigned teams, including recruitment, training, and delegation of departmental work.
- Assist in preparing and managing departmental budgets, including approval of supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Maintain and oversee equipment and facilities to acceptable standards, including inventory management.
- Recommend textbooks and supplementary materials for adoption.
- Oversee curriculum development, including course descriptions, outlines, and curriculum changes.
- Prepare annual course schedules, outcomes, and tactical goals aligned with college objectives.
- Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to ensure alignment with institutional goals and strategic vision.
- Coach and evaluate faculty and staff, setting performance goals and fostering professional development.
- Pursue continuous improvement in subject matter expertise, teaching methods, educational technology, and related areas.
- Design and implement inclusive instructional activities aimed at maximizing student success.
- Partner with apprenticeship liaisons and community partners to support and expand apprenticeship opportunities.
