Position Summary: nbsp;

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for full-time, Program Coordinator for Health and Counseling Services. This position is responsible for the development and execution of an institutional wide, comprehensive health promotion program. The position solicits a wide range of Eastern Illinois University and Charleston constituencies through the planning and delivery of theory-based, evidence-based, and evidence-informed health promotion programs, services, and policies targeting individuals, groups, communities and the campus/community environment. Constituencies include, but are not limited to students, student leaders, employees, student affairs division staff, faculty, parents/family members, and community members. Working in strong collaboration with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and community agencies, the Program Coordinator will create, implement, and develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for health promotion programs and services. This will include, but is not limited to, administering needs assessment, program planning, program implementation, program evaluation, and supervision / management, and advocacy activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs all components of the comprehensive health promotion/health education and prevention efforts within Health and Counseling Services and the University community
  • Holds primary responsibility for day-to-day operations of the Health and Counseling Service rsquo;s Health Education/Promotion unit.
  • Coordinates the promotional and marketing efforts of the Health and Counseling Services; including print media, on-line media, social media, social networking efforts, etc.
  • Monitors, maintains, and reports the University rsquo;s compliance to the Federal Safe and Drug Free Schools mandate
  • Provides budgetary oversight for health promotion/health education and prevention efforts, including budget allocation, travel, staffing, etc.
  • Serves as the point of coordination for the University faculty and staff who, by their positions and functions, contribute directly to the University rsquo;s health promotion/health education and wellness efforts.
  • Conducts and supervises needs assessment endeavors to identify the health-related needs of students and the University community.
  • Directs, coordinates, and or advises campus and community health promotion and wellness related committees, organizations, and movements.
  • Organizes and maintains efforts to review University policies, programs, and protocols related to health and wellness related topic.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master rsquo;s degree, in the field of Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, Community Health, or other related social/behavioral sciences
  • 2 years of related professional experience delivering health education/health promotion/public health/prevention/etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Skill in analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to adjust actions in relation to others actions.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to utilize various computer software packages, such as Accounting Software, query, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in order to be able to analyze and investigate a variety of questions or problems

Work Hours

The core work hours of this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Evenings and weekend hours may be required

Starting Salary/Pay Rate Range

Current starting pay rate for this position is $3,750.00/ month commensurate on experience
