The International Student and Scholar Program Coordinator is responsible for programming that fosters the success and well-being of our international community. This includes identifying needs, developing learning outcomes, and designing and delivering professional intercultural and support programs that facilitate the educational, professional, and personal success of international students and scholars at UCR. In accordance with federal regulations mandating that sponsoring institutions provide regular orientation, informational, and cultural sessions to F-1 and J-1 students and scholars, the program coordinator is tasked with ensuring compliance with these requirements. Additionally, the Program Coordinator contributes to outreach and campus training initiatives that equip faculty, staff, and students with the necessary resources and skills to effectively contribute to an international campus environment. The salary range for this position is $56,000.00 - $96,400.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $56,000.00 - $66,100.00. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Offers of employment are dependent on completing a misconduct disclosure and potential background check.\n \nThe ISS program coordinator is responsible for the development, delivery and review of programs, projects and events that create community, celebrate culture and promote global engagement. The program coordinator assumes the primary responsibility for the overall management and coordination of International Student Orientation. This includes conducting research, designing, marketing, and assisting in the execution of Orientation and other adjustment and support programs that cater to the needs of UCR's undergraduate and graduate international students. Additionally, they serve as the primary logistics coordinator for ISS, facilitating program meetings and events, and co-managing the departments newsletter and social media presence. The coordinator is also responsible for designing and coordinating community-building events for students and scholars. Works directly with the scholar team to plan and execute scholar focused events. Federal regulations mandate that sponsoring institutions provide regular orientation, informational, and cultural sessions to F-1 and J-1 students and scholars. The program coordinator is accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of these obligations. Guides students and scholars on complex and sensitive matters relating to cultural adjustment and intercultural communication. Coaches students and scholars to plan events and projects that foster the success and well-being of our international community. Facilitates student-led workshops on international student success. Manage peer mentoring programs, orientation leaders, event coordinators, and volunteers to include: recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and supervision.Maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders critical to program success. Works with community and campus partners to coordinate programs and organize cultural events. Maintains communication and effective relationships with colleagues and departments to enhance the international student and scholar experience and build community. In collaboration with others, plans and implements an outreach strategy targeting both on-campus and off-campus supporters to raise awareness of international student and scholar support programs and needs.Provides recommendations, reports, and metrics on the feasibility of new and current programs. Devises preferred program learning and service outcomes, creates measures to assess effectiveness, and makes recommendations for changes/new programs and services. Expands and enhances programs and services designed to promote community building, intercultural communication skills, and a mutual exchange of culture, language, and learning across campus. Provides support to international students to facilitate the academic and socio-cultural adjustment to campus, including matters related to pre-arrival, arrival and adjustment to the United States. Makes appropriate referrals to campus partners. In collaboration with leadership, proposes a budget for yearly programming events and works within that approved budget to execute events. Works closely with the administrative team to request the hiring and onboarding of student employees and volunteers, and to request room reservations, catering, and the purchase of other required materials for program execution. May serve as a back up Designated School Official during peak periods with minor immigration matters, such as travel signatures.Additional duties as assigned.\n \nSkill in communicating effectively and professionally using tact and diplomacy and ability to work effectively as an individual, a team member, and with diverse groups.Thorough knowledge of international students' and scholars' support needs. Thorough knowledge of advising/counseling techniques through an intercultural lens.Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.Abilities in project and program management, problem identification and reasoning skills. Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.Ability to successfully market programs and events.Demonstrated ability to build and create community. Skilled with virtual online platforms, social media and website content management.Understanding of University rules and regulations and knowledge of University processes and procedures. Ability to speak a second language.Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.\n \nSkill in communicating effectively and professionally using tact and diplomacy and ability to work effectively as an individual, a team member, and with diverse groups. Ability to successfully market programs and events. Demonstrated ability to build and create community. Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
