Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator provides oversight and coordination of multi-site research operations, including the implementation, management, and evaluation of research and community-engaged projects conducted by the UTH CoLab. This position is responsible for coordinating study activities, supporting community partnerships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and monitoring project progress to ensure alignment with study objectives, timelines, and funding requirements for the Housing expansion for access to recovery for Texans (HEART) initiative funded by the Texas Opioid Abatement Council.

The UTH CoLab is a multidisciplinary research team led by faculty at the University of Texas Health Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research (CHPPR). The CoLab advances equitable mental health and substance use solutions through research, evaluation, education, workforce development, program innovation, and community-driven partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating research studies, working collaboratively with community organizations, and supporting substance use recovery or behavioral health initiatives within academic, healthcare, public health, or nonprofit settings.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Coordinates and supports implementation of multi-site research activities, including participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention in substance use-related studies.

• Oversees all phases of the research process, including needs assessments and ongoing evaluation activities with community partners and development of site-specific outreach and engagement strategies.

• Collects, manages, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., interviews, surveys, referral tracking) to monitor study progress and inform intervention refinement.

• Develops study protocols and materials and coordinates IRB submissions and communications to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Serves as a liaison with community partners to facilitate referrals, support protocol adherence, and maintain collaborative relationships.

• Maintains accurate and secure study data and documentation in compliance with IRB, funder, and institutional requirements.

• Monitors implementation processes (e.g., fidelity, reach, adaptations) to support evaluation of study outcomes.

• Develops and manages study timelines, tracking milestones and deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals and grant requirements.

• Oversees study staff, providing supervision and coordination to ensure progress toward project goals and benchmarks.

• Oversees multi-site data collection and prepares study reports and deliverables aligned with project timelines and funder expectations.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • None

Prefferred:

• Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery, behavioral health systems, and community-based recovery resources.

• Understanding of human subjects research protections, IRB processes, and research ethics.

• Strong project management and organizational skills.

• Ability to coordinate multiple activities, partners, and deadlines simultaneously.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related project management and data management software.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree required May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

Minimum Experience:

3 years of related experience required May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
