Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $30.82/hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $30.82 - $44.16/hour.

Work Location: 110 Castilian Dr, Suite 100 & various venues within SB County

Working Days and Hours: Variable ~ 10 hours/week; occasional nights & weekends as required

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The Viva el Arte de Santa Barbara Program Coordinator provides part-time administrative, logistical, and community engagement support for UCSB Arts & Lectures' Viva el Arte de Santa Barbara initiative. This position helps ensure the successful planning and implementation of free, high-quality performances and educational activities that celebrate the richness and diversity of Latine arts and cultures throughout Santa Barbara County. Working collaboratively with Arts & Lectures staff, community partners, artists, and volunteers, the Coordinator serves as an ambassador for the Viva program and supports all aspects of event preparation, artist hospitality, community communications, volunteer coordination, and post-event documentation. This is a limited appointment position requiring a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings and weekends during program activities.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• 1-3 years: Demonstrated experience coordinating community programs, events, educational activities, or similar initiatives.
• Experience working with diverse communities and populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in arts administration, cultural programming, nonprofit organizations, or higher education

Travel Requirements:

Travel to Viva el Arte de Santa Barbara events is an essential part of the position. All travel is anticipated to be within Santa Barbara County.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

50% - Viva el Arte Event Support:

• Attend all Viva performances and related activities.
• Assist with event setup, registration, audience services, and breakdown.
• Help coordinate hospitality for artists and guests.
• Troubleshoot minor operational issues during events and communicate significant concerns to Arts & Lectures staff.
• Perform other related duties that support the successful implementation of the Viva program.

20% - Program Coordinator:

• Assist with planning and implementation of Viva performances and community events.
• Coordinate logistical details with community venue partners before each event.
• Maintain event timelines, checklists, and planning documents.
• Support artist travel logistics, hospitality, and on-site needs as assigned.
• Coordinate distribution of promotional materials to community partners.
• Administrative program support during non-active residency weeks settlement records.

20% - Communications:

• Maintain regular communication with the Director of Education &Community Engagement regarding program progress and emerging needs.
• Respond to community inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
• Assist with collecting event attendance data, photographs, testimonials, and evaluation materials.
• Prepare brief post-event summaries.
• Maintain organized electronic files and program records.

10% - Community Engagement:

• Maintain positive relationships with schools, community organizations, and neighborhood partners.
• Represent UCSB Arts & Lectures professionally at meetings and events.
• Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Viva throughout Santa Barbara County.
• Help identify opportunities to strengthen community participation and audience engagement.
• Other duties as assigned.
