Position Overview

The Program Director, Construction Trades is responsible for the planning, organization, management, implementation, continuous review, and analysis of the project. This includes ensuring that the project complies with funder's requirements, achieves objectives and outcomes, and is implemented successfully. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees. This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment. Currently, this is a temporary grant funded position through June 30, 2028, and is anticipated to continue long term.

What you will be doing

• Oversees the development of construction trades programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards • Collaborates on curriculum development, job placement initiatives, and advisory board activities • Develops and implements initiatives to support student success, retention, and completion within construction trades programs • Oversees the maintenance and enhancement of facilities, labs, and equipment used for construction trades education • Represents the department and institution at community events, industry conferences, and networking opportunities • Prepares and submits reports to grantors, detailing project progress, outcomes, and overall status • Ensures compliance with College and funding agency policies, procedures, and regulations • Identifies opportunities for program growth, innovation, and expansion to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry • Reviews and prepares materials for dissemination via articles, reports, presentations, etc • Hires, supervises, and evaluates project staff • Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of related experience; or Master's degree and three (3) years of related experience; including three (3) years of professional experience in the construction industry to include project management, plumbing, carpentry or other construction trades. • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures • Strong knowledge of construction industry practices, technologies, and workforce trends • Familiarity with relevant software and technology tools used in construction trades education • Experience with accreditation processes and standards for technical education programs • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communications skills • Experience planning, coordinating and organizing complex, multi-activity projects (preferable in education setting) • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility • Strong leadership skills that promote dedication, creativity, innovation, and growth • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions for reporting purposes • Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, students, and the public • Ability to develop cooperative relationships among faculty, staff, administration, and College leadership • Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff
