Job Description:

This job is a full-time, benefited, FLSA-exempt position in the Health Sciences Division that reports to the Dean of Health Sciences.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10607)
Bachelors Degree in related field, Current RDMS (AB)(OB/GYN) and two years’ experience in field.

 

Candidates for this position are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment. Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment.

Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for the implementation and instruction of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Gwinnett Technical College.  Implementation of program curriculum.   Assists in developing and reviewing program syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. . Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts and participates in college and community activities.

Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

• Construct training modules, tools, materials, supplies and equipment to comply with local requirement for safety and security needs and in accordance with state and federal work safety standards.
• Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.
• Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.
• Maintain a secure training and work area that proves freedom of movement for students during the performance of work and training assignments and complies with the security requirements of the organization.
• Ensure work-related projects are successfully completed and that they meet industrial standards.

 

Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.

• Earns required number of CE credits to maintain ARDMS certification.
• Participates in education meetings, workshops, etc. as requested.
• Meet all required organizational and accreditation policies and guidelines.
• Assist in conducting a self-study of the program's compliance with technical college, program and accreditation standards.
• Follow and adjust curriculum to meet state and national standards. 
• Exhibit and model positive work ethics.
• Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College.
