Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences B.S. Degree Program Academic Office. Assures that all components, goals, objectives, and student outcomes in IMS B.S. degree program activities are consistent with initiatives developed for the program. Serves as liaison within the College of Medicine and FSU, and fosters communication between IMS B.S. Degree Program partner colleges and departments to ensure program success.

Facilitates support for all academic matters. Works closely with the Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, and IMS Experiential Learning Curriculum Director regarding curriculum decisions and to coordinate the IMS Experiential Learning Seminar Series. Works closely with the IMS leadership to ensure appropriate programs and activities for students that will enhance students field experiences, contribute to their developmental progress as professionals, increase their knowledge and understanding about the health care system, and provide relevant and meaningful interactions with members of the healthcare team.

Supervises team of salaried employees and is responsible for hiring, training, and setting performance standards. Ensures that student advising processes, enrollment processes, mapping processes, data management, and experiential learning tasks are performed consistently and to a high standard. Provides leadership and direction in policy development and implementation for the program. Assists in planning long and short-term goals for IMS.

Oversees deans-level approvals for IMS undergraduate students and counsels on academic affairs, providing a high level of customer service. Evaluates and acts on academic matters including graduation degree requirements, personal hardships, academic probation, withdrawals, dismissals, and other situations, exercising independent decision making. Coordinates and conducts spring, summer, and fall orientation for the college. Prepares, updates, and delivers the Deans presentation to freshmen and transfer students at orientation each semester, answering questions from students and parents.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and six years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to ten years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
• Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
