JOB TITLE: Director, OSP Business

About the Job: The company seeks a Director, OSP Business to provide strategic leadership and full P&L ownership of the Outside Plant (OSP) business unit, encompassing data center deployments, fiber network construction, and related infrastructure services. This role is responsible for setting business direction, driving revenue growth, and ensuring operational excellence across all OSP programs. The Director will partner closely with executive leadership, sales, finance, and human resources to shape workforce strategy, resource allocation, and profitability, while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

What you will do:

  • Must be willing to travel 50%+.
  • Business Strategy & P&L Ownership: Own and drive the OSP business unit's strategic plan, including revenue targets, margin goals, and growth initiatives. Define and execute the business roadmap in alignment with company objectives. Monitor financial performance, track KPIs, and take corrective actions to address underperformance. Partner with senior leadership to develop annual operating plans, budgets, and long-range forecasts. Lead negotiations for major contracts, scopes, timelines, and commercial terms with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Operational Oversight: Provide executive oversight across all OSP project portfolios, ensuring consistent delivery standards, on-time performance, and budget adherence. Establish and enforce operational policies, processes, and quality standards. Champion continuous improvement initiatives across field operations.
  • Business Development & Client Relations: Serve as the senior executive interface with key clients, fostering strategic relationships and identifying growth opportunities. Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support pursuits, proposals, and contract negotiations. Drive client satisfaction and retention.
  • Organizational Leadership & Talent Development: Build and lead a high-performing OSP organization. Recruit, develop, and retain top talent across project management, field operations, and support functions. Establish a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence. Coach and mentor senior managers and directors. Drive succession planning and workforce development strategies.
  • Financial Management & Reporting: Develop and implement executive-level reporting mechanisms to track business performance, portfolio health, and financial outcomes. Lead regular business reviews with senior leadership. Oversee resource allocation, labor planning, and cost optimization across the OSP business.
  • Risk Management: Lead enterprise-wide risk identification and mitigation for the OSP business. Evaluate infrastructure, capacity, and operational risks. Ensure all safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements (OSHA and other relevant standards) are embedded into business operations.
  • Stakeholder & Executive Communication: Represent the OSP business at the executive level, both internally and externally. Lead engagement with regulatory bodies, municipal authorities, and industry partners. Deliver clear and compelling business updates to the executive team and board as needed.
  • Safety & Compliance Culture: Champion a zero-injury culture across the entire OSP organization. Set the standard for safety leadership, ensuring all personnel and contractors understand and implement safety requirements. Drive accountability at all levels of the organization for safety outcomes and regulatory compliance.
  • Technical Authority & Innovation: Serve as the technical authority for OSP construction methods, standards, and emerging technologies. Drive innovation in construction practices, tooling, and delivery models. Ensure the organization maintains technical excellence and stays ahead of industry developments.
  • Governance & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks across the OSP business, including project documentation standards, reporting cadences, and compliance programs. Ensure all regulatory, contractual, and internal requirements are consistently met.

What you will need:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in OSP construction, telecommunications, or data center infrastructure, with at least 5 years in senior leadership or business unit director role
  • OHSA 30 certification
  • Must meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements.
  • Must meet all requirements to be properly badged and able to meet all client requirements to access the jobsite.
  • Familiar with construction management software as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office
  • Proficient in understanding building plans and specifications
  • Team player with field supervision, project management and company administration
