The Program Director oversees the General Surgery residency program, ensuring high-quality education, a comprehensive curriculum, and compliance with accreditation standards. This role involves planning, implementing, monitoring operations, and collaborating with the Chief Resident and Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities include maintaining accreditation compliance, preparing program materials, recruiting and evaluating candidates, and orienting residents to program and specialty requirements.
Requirements:
• Medical degree from an accredited school
• Michigan medical license
• Certification by the American Board of General Surgery or Osteopathic Board
• Clinical competency as a practicing physician
• Good standing with the medical staff
• Unrestricted credentials within the department
Preferred:
• At least five years of clinical experience in General Surgery
• Three years as core faculty in an ACGME-accredited program.
