Job Title: Insurance Financial Specialist

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM (37.5 hours/week)

Employment Type: Temp to Hire

Location: Irvine, CA

Pay: $36/hr.

Summary

The Program Financial Specialist I partners with Public Entity Program Account and Underwriting teams to support and manage financial operations. This role contributes to the development, maintenance, and execution of financial processes that support Employee Benefits Public Entity insurance purchasing and risk pools governed by Joint Power Authorities (JPA). The position also provides analytical support and contributes to business solutions that enhance program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the new business quoting process in collaboration with the Underwriting team across program coverages.
  • Review and analyze proposal and prospect data to ensure submission materials meet carrier and client requirements prior to JPA delivery.
  • Manage new business quotes and plan change requests with carriers, ensuring accuracy of plan documentation and resolving discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Underwriting teams and JPAs to address questions, clarify requirements, and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Validate rates before client delivery by confirming accurate calculation and inclusion of all program components.
  • Support the annual renewal process by drafting, configuring, and testing client letter templates, ensuring accuracy of financial data and timely distribution.
  • Maintain financial data within Public Entity program systems and applicable databases.
  • Update and manage rate grids while communicating changes with appropriate business partners.
  • Deliver finalized quotes and plan updates to Account Service teams.
  • Communicate financial proposals and related data clearly to internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with agency data standards by entering and maintaining complete and accurate records within management systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous related work experience preferred.
  • Ongoing compliance with continuing education requirements for license renewal.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid insurance license required within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of financial principles, processes, and their application in business transactions.
  • Knowledge of insurance and financial regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to varying audiences.
  • Effective time management, organization, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, responsive environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Capability to analyze, interpret, and consolidate financial data.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also working independently.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
