Position Summary

The part-time Program Intern assists the assigned organization with tasks set out by various teams, working closely with different team members to learn more about the company. The intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of the functioning of the assigned business or organization.. The Program Intern will adhere to the policies as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.

This is a "continuous" posting and does not have a closing date. Applications are continuously accepted and candidates are interviewed and hired based on the need of the College.

Salary:Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees

Local Salary "L" Schedule - Part-Time, maximum of (19) hours per week

Hourly Wage is $15.00 per hour per the Grant

Work Hours: Maximum of (19) hours per week. Work schedule can be adjusted to fit around student's class schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The part-time Program Intern shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty, Staff, and Student Handbook. In addition, when performing tasks off-site with a mentor, the Intern shall conform to the mentoring organization's policies and procedures.

  • Assist with data collection and other tasks assigned by mentor
  • Assist with technical support
  • Assist with organizing work areas and inventory of equipment
  • Assist with routine maintenance including hardware and software
  • Maintain an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies
  • Assist the mentor in performing tasks assigned
  • Attend meetings as appropriate
  • Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Instructor or Mentor

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual who has the ability to comfortably and professionally engage with everyone from high school students to government representatives and industry leaders.

  • Currently enrolled as a student in Drake State
  • Entry level knowledge of Microsoft Office and other application software packages
  • Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public

In accordance with Alabama Community College System Policy and guidelines, the applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a consent form and agree to a non-refundable fee of $24.40 for a criminal background check. Employment will be contingent upon the receipt of a clearance notification from the criminal background check.
