About the job

Google’s Finance team is embarking on a multi-year journey to build standard, automated, AI-enabled processes. To further this goal, we are looking for a Senior Program Manager to bridge the gap between strategic goal and direct execution.

In this role, you will help enable and deliver on critical programs that fuel the transformation of our Plan to Report (Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)) efforts. You will be expected to not only manage the project lifecycle but also help guide strategic decision-making, solve complex problems, and provide deep investigative insights to support the strategic initiatives of the process. You will proactively seek innovative solutions to finance operational challenges while balancing risk, speed, and cost, serving as a key partner to executive management. You will operate with a high degree of independence, aspiring to lead broader portfolios and influence cross-organizational collaboration.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and lead complex, cross-functional projects from inception to close. Translate business strategy into actionable roadmaps and drive consensus on business requirements across Finance and Engineering teams.
  • Implement governance structures through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Go beyond tracking milestones by managing risks, identifying remediation plans, and communicating status to executive stakeholders.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to document workflows, identify gaps, and propose improvements. Define and monitor key metrics to measure the business impact of process improvements, ensuring alignment with the organization’s long-term goal.
  • Build strong relationships across functions and product areas. Influence decision-making at the executive management level and facilitate effective working group meetings to move objectives forward.
  • Serve as an executive leader within the team mentoring junior program managers, coaching on best practices, and leading workstreams that may include other team members.
