    Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) brings new services and features to customers at an unprecedented cadence - more than 3,000 launches a year, and accelerating as the AI landscape evolves. Behind that velocity is the Launch Operations team, which owns the process that governs the lifecycle of bringing every AWS capability to customers, from intake through customer availability. We turn AWS's innovation velocity into a durable Marketing advantage: driving operational scale so service teams and stakeholders can focus on innovation, and improving signal-to-noise so the most important news reaches customers and enables field sales and partner teams to engage around the launches that matter most.

We are looking for a Program Manager II to run the programs that make this possible. You will operate at the center of the launch process, coordinating across product managers, marketing, engineering, security, legal, and field teams to keep launches moving on time and at a high quality bar. This is a role for someone who is organized, resourceful, and energized by the challenge of managing high-visibility, cross-functional programs where the details matter and the scale is significant. You will not just track the process - you will improve it, identifying where the sequential handoffs and manual coordination slow launches down, and designing the workflows and tooling that compress that timeline and align launch velocity with engineering velocity.

    Key job responsibilities

    1. Own the end-to-end launch operations program - defining milestones, tracking deliverables, mitigating risks, and keeping launches on schedule across multiple concurrent workstreams and stakeholder teams.

    2. Coordinate across product managers, marketing, engineering, security, legal, pricing, and field teams to align on priorities, remove blockers, and drive launches from intake to customer availability.

    3. Identify process gaps in how launches move through the pipeline and implement improvements that raise quality, reduce cycle time, and compress the sequential handoff chains that dominate the launch timeline.

    4. Partner with task-owner teams to bring automation directly into their review workflows, improving operational scale so the program can support 3,000+ launches per year.

    5. Define and monitor program metrics to measure delivery performance and improve signal-to-noise, then use those insights to inform planning and elevate the most important launches to customers.

    6. Apply generative AI tools to streamline processes, status reporting, and program analysis, and help embed these tools into the team's day-to-day operating model.

    A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing the launch pipeline and flagging any launches at risk of slipping, then work with the relevant task owners to unblock them. Mid-morning, you run a working session with product and marketing partners to align on upcoming Tier 1 launches and lock down next steps. After lunch, you pull together a status update for leadership, summarizing progress, program metrics, and the open decisions that need their input. Between meetings, you are refining the intake process for new launches and looking for ways to remove friction and automate the manual coordination that slows the next cycle down by prototyping that improvement with generative AI tooling before you socialize it with the team.

    About the team

The AWS Lifecycle Marketing team shapes how the world's leading cloud and AI portfolio reaches customers. We orchestrate how AWS launches are integrated with Marketing planning, how lifecycle changes are managed responsibly, and how the portfolio is represented across shared surfaces and priority moments - removing complexity, increasing visibility, and ensuring Marketing can act with the coordination, speed, and strategic focus the portfolio requires. Launch Operations is the connective tissue between AWS Service Engineering and AWS Marketing, and this role sits at the heart of a multi-year transformation from manual, relationship-driven coordination to scalable, data-driven platforms. If you want to work on programs that shape how millions of customers experience AWS innovation, we would love to hear from you.

Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
