    Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The AWS Brick and Network Deployment (BaND) team is searching for a passionate and talented program manager to lead networking implementation projects, from initial concept through to establishing standardized processes that can be rolled out across our global facilities.

You will lead programs alongside partner teams to define pilot projects, develop strategic plans, and create operational deployment procedures. You will coordinate with various leadership teams to establish requirements and timelines. Strong communication skills are essential, as you"ll need to actively share project updates, ensure alignment with internal stakeholders, manage issue resolution, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Collaborate with Brick and Network Deployment teams to create Weekly Business Review documents and lead cross-functional review sessions.
    • Develop operational metrics and create visual representations (graphs, tables, dashboards) to present Key Performance Indicators.
    • Build a deep functional knowledge of Data Center Networking operations and work with stakeholders to advance automation initiatives.
    • Present program status and decision narratives to senior leadership, using your expertise to influence scalable solutions.
    • Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders both within and outside the organization. Monitor performance trends, identify risks/issues, escalate when necessary, remove obstacles (within your span of control), and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Manage medium to high complexity projects and improve processes that have significant business impacts, contributing to enhanced quality, productivity, or customer experience.
    • Collaborate with Data Center Networking TIPMs, Engineering, Infrastructure, Supply Chain, and other Program Management teams to identify, establish baselines, and deliver goals.
    • Create and maintain team resources (e.g., Wiki pages), encourage team collaboration in developing guiding Tenets, and monitor progress towards Kingpin goals.

    A day in the life

The ideal candidate should be an innovative, results driven professional with solid people skills and a strong problem-solving capability. The individual will be responsible for driving strategy and initiatives. The candidate should work with key business partners and stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities. The key to success in this role is the ability to craft and implement a strategic vision and make independent decisions with sound judgment to attain that vision. This individual needs to manage change and have the ability to build the right mechanisms to support our organization and influence other teams.

The candidate should be able to clearly define data requirements and metrics. They will need to identify opportunities to invent and simplify processes, identify business risks and implement resolutions and scalable mechanisms.

Finally, this is a critical role on a team that drives/supports a number of AWS leadership reviews. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate ideas concisely to a wide variety of stakeholders for purposes ranging from informative to need for approvals from executives.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
