Texas A&M's Psychology Department is looking for a Program Manager to oversee the operational and administrative infrastructure of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, ensuring efficient, compliant, and strategically aligned operations. The Program Manager is responsible for leading and enhancing departmental processes, optimizing workflows, and managing major program initiatives that support the department's academic, research, and administrative objectives. In this role, the Program Manager collaborates with faculty, staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders to coordinate operations across functional areas and ensure the effective delivery of services. Serving as a key advisor to departmental leadership, the Program Manager provides strategic and operational guidance, supports long-term planning and program development, analyzes data and processes to drive continuous improvement, and helps address complex organizational challenges. This position requires exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills to successfully support a dynamic academic and research environment while advancing departmental goals and priorities.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Leads and manages departmental operations, administrative infrastructure, and major program initiatives, ensuring effective service delivery and alignment with departmental priorities and goals.

  • Establishes operational priorities, allocates resources, monitors project timelines, identifies risks, and implements solutions to address challenges and improve operational efficiency.

  • Supports departmental planning by developing strategic goals, advancing programmatic priorities, and partnering with leadership and committees on strategic initiatives and operational problem-solving.

  • Prepares, reviews, and provides input on reports, proposals, operational metrics, and program evaluation data to support accreditation, planning, and departmental decision-making.

  • Serves as a departmental resource for operational processes, policy interpretation, and administrative guidance, ensuring consistency and compliance across functions.

  • Maintains effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including campus partners, administrative units, collaborators, and departmental staff.

  • Coordinates administrative, technical, and support personnel to ensure efficient operations and high-quality service delivery.

  • Oversees departmental and staff evaluation processes, ensuring compliance with institutional HR policies while supporting employee training and professional development opportunities.

  • Coordinates course scheduling and manages teaching-related administrative processes, including the compilation and organization of teaching evaluation data for annual reviews, promotion and tenure, and midterm evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years of related experience required.

  • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.

  • Ability to move up to 30 lbs. with assistance.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Preferred experience directly supervising, mentoring, and developing full-time staff or cross-functional teams.

  • Strong background in monitoring expenditures, analyzing budget variances, and implementing cost saving measures.

  • Project management experience solving complex logistical challenges with evidence of strategic solutions.

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information and articulate data insights effectively to diverse

  • audiences.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of office software

  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.

Schedule: This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
