Reporting to the Assistant Director Facilities Weight Rooms, the Program Manager Facilities Weight Rooms supports the daily operations of the Barnes Center at The Arch and satellite recreation facilities during weekends and evenings, contributing to a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment. This position is responsible for supervising student staff, coordinating emergency protocols, conducting facility inspections, and enforcing operational policies. The role assists with staff training, scheduling, and payroll, and helps manage facility and event logistics. This role collaborates closely with the Facilities unit and shares responsibility for facility and event supervision.

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred in recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, management, or comparable degree.

2 years experience managing recreation facilities or guest services and student staff.

American Red Cross First Aid, CPRA, and REED Instructor Certifications required must be obtained within six months of hire if not already certified.

Skills and Knowledge

Must possess strong communication skills. Knowledgeable in all aspects of facility management and emergency action planning and procedures. Ability to train and teach others.

Responsibilities

Supervise Recreation facilities evenings and weekends. Working as part of the Facilities work group, assist with supervising daily operations of Barnes Center at The Arch recreation areas and satellite recreation facilities, including Ernie Davis Fitness Center, Womens Building, Womens Building Fields & Courts.

Oversee student staff on duty. Coordinate Emergency Action Plans and building maintenance activities while on duty. Enforce policies and procedures relating to facility operations and use. Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment. Work cooperatively with facilities team and Facilities Services to address maintenance and custodial needs.

Assist with the training development, supervision, evaluation, scheduling, and payroll for weight room student staff. Ensure appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours and events. Assist with developing and overseeing staff in-service training program utilizing involvement from student staff.

Manage multiple weight room facilities in multiple locations to ensure safe, consistent operations. Assist with maintaining equipment and cleanliness of weight room areas. Assist in creating, editing, and implementing weight room area emergency action procedures and safety plans. Assist with debriefing incidents and updating procedures as necessary.

Assist with collecting data relating to facility operations, participation, and participant satisfaction and learning. Assist with managing laundry operations, locker rental program, and daily use lockers. Ensure established closing procedures are followed. Assist with operation of and training for recreation management software relating to memberships, lockers, and program registrations.

Manage facility set-ups for daily activities and special events. Interact with event organizers to facilitate appropriate facility set-up and usage. Assist with implementing risk management and customer service plans for Facilities area.
