Role

Under general direction, performs supervisory and leadership duties for Inmate Services Programs.

Major Duties, Responsibilities

  • Recruits, trains, and ensures staff are qualified to perform job functions; provides supervision and support to staff; develops performance evaluations.
  • Oversees contracted services, data collection, and reporting requirements and ensures programs comply with Federal, State, and County guidelines.
  • Manages Inmate Services programs to include educational and substance abuse treatment services and Reach Out Initiatives focused on mental health.
  • Works directly with inmates to ensure Inmate Services Programs are being delivered and makes program improvements.
  • Collaborates with third-parties, diverse court personnel, and other criminal justice and behavioral health partners.
  • Conducts team meetings and participates in the planning of department meetings.
  • Creates, reviews, and recommends policies, procedures, and protocol implementation to include quality control.
  • Oversees applications and implementation of program grants.
  • Creates and maintains the Inmate Services Division filing system.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science, Behavioral Health, Criminal Justice, or related field.

Experience:

A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a detention or corrections setting, behavioral health intervention, multi-disciplinary coordination, or a related field.

An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year per year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.

Work Environment:

The work environment is associated with an office and/or a detainment facility and includes exposure to loud noise, bloodborne pathogens, dust, fumes, and chemicals. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
