Position Announcement

Join Utah Valley University's Master of Social Work (MSW) program as a Program Manager and play a key role in shaping the student experience and supporting the next generation of social work professionals. In this position, you will serve as a central point of coordination for the program-providing administrative support, guiding prospective and current students through advising and admissions processes, and helping track and support student cohorts from entry through completion. Your work will also support program quality by organizing events, managing evaluation and accreditation data, and ensuring operations run smoothly for students, faculty, and community partners.

By working closely with program leadership and external partners, you will play an important role in preparing social workers to serve effectively across communities and settings, while gaining valuable experience in higher education program management.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assists MSW Program and Field Education Directors in all aspects of the MSW Program, including executing administrative support functions. Supports curriculum development and tracking. Works with department and college personnel on behalf of the MSW program. Addresses and solves organizational and procedural challenges in the program.

  • Provides faculty support by preparing academic course schedules, tracking faculty schedules, and notifying faculty of deadlines for reports and grades. Prepares agenda items and records meeting minutes for faculty and program meetings; completes book orders; stores and organizes program documents in the shared drive; and assists department administrators with new faculty hires.

  • Supports student recruitment and assists advisors with advising potential and current students. Facilitates the MSW application and admissions process. Audits and updates the website. Maintains student data for program efficiency, growth, and accreditation. Creates and maintains marketing materials to promote the program to potential students and interested community members.

  • Supports community partners by maintaining communication among the MSW program, community partners, and advisory board members, as directed by the Director and Field Director. Orients new community agency partners. Answer and delegate community inquiries. Fosters and expands community relationships.

  • Leads or assists with the planning, organizing, and implementation of program events, including MSW orientation, Field Instructor trainings, Field Fair, student trainings, and celebrations (graduation, etc.).

  • Assists with the MSW Program with accreditation. Monitors and tracks the required Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competency assessment. Assists with preparing and submitting self-studies to CSWE. Establishes and monitors interim deadlines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in a related field plus a minimum of two years of directly related experience; OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in higher education: Administrative Support, Student Advising, etc.

  • MSW or MPA degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the Master of Social Work Program.

  • Knowledge of administrative structure in higher education, including UVU's structure, system, personnel, and policies.

  • Excellent computer skills, including relevant Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Qualtrics, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, and Field Tracking Software as determined by the MSW Program.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
