Description:

The Research Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of clinical research for Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic North (Nazareth Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center) consistent with requirements of the Institutional Review Board and HIPAA requirements. The position requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of research policies/protocols, residency requirements and hospital policies, as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.

Position Purpose

  • The Program Manager is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and growth of industry-sponsored clinical research within the hospital, while also supporting the scholarly mission of Graduate Medical Education (GME).

As a "Job Title" you will:

  • Manage and facilitate all aspects of industry-sponsored clinical research studies from feasibility through study closeout

  • Serve as the primary liaison between sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), investigators, and hospital departments

  • Coordinate study start-up activities including feasibility assessments, budgeting, contract negotiation support, and regulatory submissions

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines (e.g., IRB, FDA, GCP)

  • Monitor study progress, enrollment targets, timelines, and financial performance

  • Support audit readiness and ensure proper documentation and reporting requirements are met

  • Develop and expand the hospital's portfolio of industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated research

  • Identify new research opportunities and partnerships aligned with institutional priorities

  • Collaborate with leadership to establish goals, metrics, and strategic direction for research growth.

  • Mentor medical residents, fellows, and faculty in research design, methodology, and implementation

  • Provide guidance on:

  • Study design

  • Protocol development

  • Data analysis and interpretation

  • Manuscript and abstract preparation

  • Develop and deliver educational sessions, workshops, and seminars on research skills and scholarly activity

  • Support residents and faculty in meeting ACGME scholarly activity requirements

  • Promote a culture of inquiry and academic scholarship across departments

  • Track and report scholarly activity metrics (e.g., publications, presentations, grants)

  • Assist clinicians with research project development, including quality improvement and clinical research projects

  • Plan, organize, and execute an annual interdisciplinary GME Research Day

  • Coordinate abstract submission, review processes, and judging criteria

  • Engage faculty and external reviewers/judges

  • Oversee event logistics, scheduling, poster/oral presentations, and awards

  • Ensure broad participation across specialties and disciplines

  • Ensure adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) standards and human subject protections

  • Maintain knowledge of evolving regulatory requirements and implement best practices

  • Provide guidance on ethical research conduct and compliance

  • Partner with hospital leadership, department chairs, GME leadership, and research administration

  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among clinicians, educators, and researchers

  • Serve as a resource for research-related questions and problem-solving

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required (e.g., Clinical Research, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field)
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical research, with a strong focus on industry-sponsored trials
  • Experience in an academic medical center or teaching hospital preferred
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring trainees or faculty in research
