Job Title: Program Manager - Decarbonization Standards & Sustainability Advocacy

Job Description

The Program Manager will lead and coordinate decarbonization standards and sustainability advocacy initiatives across global carbon, public policy, and business teams. This role focuses on shaping and enhancing organizational decarbonization standards strategy, engaging with external standards bodies and stakeholders, and translating industry-leading greenhouse gas accounting and net zero standards into actionable internal policies and data infrastructure. The Program Manager will serve as a key connector between sustainability science, technology, finance, and external partners to drive meaningful reforms and informed advocacy in the climate and sustainability space.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with worldwide carbon, public policy, and business unit teams to continuously refine and enhance the organization's decarbonization standards strategy.
• Identify key advocacy opportunities across a range of stakeholders and clearly define the organization's positions on decarbonization and sustainability standards.
• Manage standards engagement initiatives from end to end, including developing and executing a comprehensive engagement strategy.
• Provide technical guidance on decarbonization standards, greenhouse gas accounting, and net zero frameworks to internal stakeholders.
• Develop well-reasoned public positions and statements that reflect organizational priorities and align with industry best practices.
• Engage proactively with standards bodies and related organizations to advocate for and drive reforms in decarbonization and sustainability standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including standard setters, academics, and industry working groups.
• Collaborate with sustainability science, technology, and finance teams to share insights from industry-leading greenhouse gas accounting and net zero standards, informing internal standards and data infrastructure.
• Facilitate external research initiatives related to decarbonization and sustainability standards and ensure findings are incorporated into advocacy and internal policy.
• Establish or actively participate in coalitions and alliances that support standards advocacy and climate-related policy development.
• Analyze external standards, stakeholder inputs, industry best practices, and advocacy practices in relation to current organizational advocacy positions, and recommend adjustments where needed.
• Create, maintain, and distribute standardized monthly reports that summarize standards engagement activities, advocacy outcomes, and key insights for leadership and stakeholders.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in program management, with the ability to coordinate complex, cross-functional initiatives related to sustainability or decarbonization.
• Strong knowledge of decarbonization strategies and sustainability principles, including familiarity with greenhouse gas accounting and net zero standards.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with global carbon, public policy, and diverse business unit teams.
• Experience identifying advocacy opportunities and defining clear organizational positions on standards and policy issues.
• Capability to manage standards engagement initiatives and develop coherent engagement strategies.
• Technical aptitude to provide guidance on decarbonization standards and related data and infrastructure requirements.
• Skill in developing public positions and communicating them clearly to internal and external audiences.
• Experience engaging with standards bodies and driving or influencing reforms in industry standards.
• Ability to build and sustain relationships with external stakeholders such as standard setters, academics, and industry working groups.
• Analytical skills to assess external standards, stakeholder inputs, and industry best practices against existing advocacy positions.
• Competence in creating and distributing standardized monthly reports that present complex information in a clear and actionable format.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with sustainability science, technology, and finance teams to integrate external standards into internal processes and data infrastructure.
• Experience in facilitating or commissioning external research related to climate, decarbonization, or sustainability standards.
• Experience participating in or organizing coalitions and collaborative industry groups focused on standards advocacy.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to navigate academic, industry, and policy environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for articulating advocacy positions and technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Ability to operate in a complex, evolving standards landscape and adapt strategies based on emerging best practices and stakeholder feedback.

Work Environment

This role is structured as a 4‑month maternity leave coverage, offering the opportunity to step into a dynamic environment focused on decarbonization standards and sustainability advocacy. The Program Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams in sustainability science, technology, finance, public policy, and business units, collaborating across time zones and disciplines. The environment emphasizes partnership with external standards bodies, academics, and industry working groups, and involves regular reporting and stakeholder communication. Specific working hours, on-site versus remote expectations, and dress code will align with standard corporate professional norms and will be clarified during the hiring process.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.
