Program Manager Network Automation & Optical Services (WaaS)
Pay Range: $45/hour to $50/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a Program Manager to lead strategic execution of next-generation optical network services and automation initiatives within a high-performance telecommunications environment. This role serves as a key connector between engineering strategy and operational execution, driving roadmap delivery for network automation, API integration, and service orchestration initiatives.
The Program Manager will act as a force multiplier for a network engineering organization, ensuring that automation, infrastructure modernization, and service delivery transformation initiatives are executed effectively across multiple cross-functional teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Strategy & Roadmap Execution- Translate strategic network automation and optical service goals into an executable program roadmap
- Align cross-functional initiatives across engineering, architecture, product, and software development teams
- Drive execution of automation initiatives including API development, orchestration, and EMS integration
- Identify, assess, and mitigate program risks impacting delivery timelines or technical outcomes
Network Automation & Process Transformation- Lead transformation from manual engineering workflows to automated, zero-touch service delivery models
- Define program governance frameworks for tracking, reporting, and measuring automation initiatives
- Improve delivery velocity through process optimization and system enhancements
- Support deployment of next-generation optical network platforms and infrastructure
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership- Serve as primary liaison between engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders
- Coordinate dependencies across product, architecture, software development, and operations teams
- Ensure alignment between technical execution and business objectives
- Facilitate prioritization of high-impact initiatives across competing demands
Vendor & Partner Management- Manage strategic vendor relationships supporting network automation and platform delivery
- Ensure third-party solutions align with architecture standards, roadmap priorities, and budget constraints
- Oversee vendor deliverables related to network automation and infrastructure deployment
Executive Reporting & Communication- Prepare and deliver executive-level program updates, dashboards, and performance insights
- Communicate program health, risks, ROI of automation initiatives, and delivery milestones
- Present technical and operational concepts in clear, visual, and business-aligned formats
Required Qualifications- Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience
- 35 years of experience in program management, operations, or technical project leadership
- Experience working in telecommunications, network engineering, or infrastructure environments
- Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies and associated delivery tools
- Strong understanding of network architecture, optical transport, or telecom services
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives in a technical environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and executive audiences
Preferred Qualifications- Experience managing capital and operating budgets
- Exposure to network automation, API integration, or orchestration platforms
- Experience working with optical network vendors or platforms (e.g., Ciena, Nokia, Infinera)
- Background in software-defined networking (SDN) or service orchestration environments
- Experience delivering executive-level reporting and data visualization
