We are HALO! We connect people and brands to create unforgettable, meaningful, and lasting experiences that build brand engagement and loyalty for our over 60,000 clients globally. Our nearly 2,000 employees and 1,000 Account Executives located in 40+ sales offices across the United States are the reason HALO is the global leader in branded merchandise, uniform programs, and recognition and incentive solutions.
The Program Merchandiser is responsible for building thoughtful, high-performing product assortments for client programs. This role blends merchandising strategy, product curation, trend awareness, sourcing, and data analysis to create assortments that support brand goals, drive sales, and deliver a strong end-user experience. The Program Merchandiser collaborates closely with clients, Account Executives, and cross-functional teams to bring product assortments to life from concept through launch.
Please be prepared to share visual examples of past work during the interview process. This could include assortments, presentations, product collections, line plans, or other examples that show your merchandising point of view and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage annual, seasonal, or program-specific product assortments aligned to client goals, brand standards, margin targets, and timing expectations.
- Analyze sales performance, market trends, customer insights, and assortment productivity to identify opportunities, gaps, and recommendations.
- Curate product collections with a strong merchandising point of view, balancing trend, brand fit, function, price point, and business goals.
- Source products by partnering with internal category teams, suppliers, and manufacturers, while evaluating options for quality, cost, availability, margin, and lead time.
- Play an active role in product development from ideation through final execution by helping shape product direction, guiding how branding is applied, and influencing final product decisions through a merchandising lens.
- Partner with vendors, internal SMEs, and Creative teams on sourced and custom products to help ensure the final product meets brand standards, customer needs, quality expectations, and market appeal.
- Serve as a brand steward for assigned clients by building familiarity with their guidelines, audience, and product expectations, and translating that into strong assortment recommendations.
- Create and present product assortments, collections, and merchandising rationale to internal and client stakeholders.
- Partner with Program Management and cross-functional teams to support timelines, approvals, product setup, and launch execution, while helping identify potential risks or blockers and contributing to solutions that keep work moving forward.
- Review business performance, inventory, and SKU productivity to recommend assortment changes, support continuous improvement, and identify sourcing or cost-saving opportunities.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience in merchandising, assortment planning, product development, buying, product sourcing, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience using data and insights to build or refine product assortments, collections, or category recommendations.
- Strong merchandising eye with the ability to balance trend, brand identity, customer needs, and business goals.
- Experience sourcing products, working with vendors or manufacturers, and navigating product selection decisions.
- Strong understanding of retail math, margin concepts, and assortment planning principles.
- Ability to create clear, compelling product presentations and communicate the strategy behind recommendations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to take ownership, navigate ambiguity, and keep work moving forward across multiple stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, and proactive with strong ownership and follow-through.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Adobe Illustrator, Jira, or Smartsheet is a plus.
- Experience in promotional products, licensed products, branded merchandise, or client-facing programs is a plus, but not required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites, trade shows, and events.
