What Youll Do

Safety - Fire Suppression Systems Program:

Tasks include:

  • Independently manage, track, and facilitate the scheduling and repairs for Lacey Campus, Angela Bowen Center, and Mottman Campus fire suppression systems (17 buildings and multiple dry and wet systems, including all compliance inspections and related repairs to maintain required compliance with various municipalities.
  • Assess non-compliant reports, determine and schedule all service calls to repair/reinspect issues with various proprietary vendors, ensuring compliance with multiple municipalities' codes, rules, and requirements for each system.
  • Track and interpret requirements and timelines for each system type, including semi-yearly, yearly, 5-year, and 10-year inspections, as directed by the NFPA, local codes, and state rules and requirements.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and troubleshoot with other campus administrative and supervisory staff to complete inspections and compliance testing.
  • Coordinate Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspections
  • Ensure Batteries in Fire Panels are working and replaced as needed
  • Receive, reconcile, and create requisitions/PO for payment for multiple vendors servicing the fire suppression systems.
  • Track monthly and yearly expenditures to vendors and municipalities for budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Prepare and maintain all related records and reports.

Campus Utilities Record Tracking:

Tasks include:

Audit utility usage

  • Trending - Weekly, Monthly, and Annual Utilization
  • Monitor Performance against Standard Operating Parameters
  • Report Anomalies to Maintenance and Administration
  • Provide Monthly Building Performance Report
  • Track Historic Records for Current and Future Use Comparisons
  • Record energy data into a spreadsheet for documentation

Performance monitoring

  • Electrical/lighting

  • Monitor consumption for irregularities in utilization

  • HVAC

  • Review building temperatures and report non-conforming conditions

  • Water

  • Monitor consumption utilization to identify leaks and opportunities for improving conservation

  • Electricity, gas, garbage, sewer, and recycling

  • Track cost savings and cost avoidance

Tasks include:

  • Independently manage, track, and facilitate the scheduling and repairs for Lacey Campus, Angela Bowen Center, and Mottman Campus Elevator Conveyance systems - including all compliance inspections and related repairs to maintain required compliance with various municipalities.
  • Assess non-compliant reports, determine and schedule all service calls to repair/reinspect issues with various proprietary vendors, ensuring compliance with multiple municipalities' codes, rules, and requirements for each system.
  • Track and interpret requirements and timelines for each system type, including semi-yearly, yearly, 5-year, and 10-year inspections, as directed by local codes, state rules, and requirements.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and troubleshoot with other campus administrative and supervisory staff to complete inspections and compliance testing.
  • Coordinate Annual Inspections with L&I Inspectors
  • Receive, reconcile, and create requisitions/PO for payment for multiple vendors servicing the fire suppression systems.
  • Track monthly and yearly expenditures to vendors and municipalities for budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Prepare and maintain all related records and reports.

Clean Buildings Act compliance reporting as necessary

Tasks include:

  • Coordinate and interface with regulatory agencies such as the Department of Ecology, Department of Commerce, and the State Board of Community College and Technical Colleges as needed
  • Assist with documentation & reporting
  • May require Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level 1 and 2, or be willing/able to complete BOC Level 1 and 2 training within one year.

Hazardous Waste Reporting - 2-year reporting cycle

Tasks include:

  • Prepare and submit the Biennial Hazardous Waste Report form (EPA form 8700-13A/B) and submit to the authorized state agency or EPA regional office by March 1 of every even-numbered year (for example, a report due by March 1, 2026, would report activities from calendar year 2025).

Qualifications You Possess

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of applicable clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks, maintain office confidentiality, and accommodate numerous interruptions.
  • Position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others and function as a team member.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and software applications, specifically MS Office suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Commitment to a working environment that values a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds

Conditions of Part-Time Employment

VACATION AND SICK LEAVE
