About the Agency
The Mississippi Division of Medicaid responsibly provides access to quality health coverage for vulnerable Mississippians. Medicaid provides health coverage for eligible, low-income populations in Mississippi. These populations include children, low-income families, pregnant women, the aged and disabled.
About the Position
The Program Specialist II position is within the Office of Managed Care at the Division of Medicaid. This position will serve as a liaison between the Office of Managed Care and the Fiscal Agent who manages the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) to help develop, test, recommend and resolve system solutions by applying Medicaid, Managed Care and MMIS policies. Learning and understanding of these policies is required to better assist why updates to the system are needed for process improvement. Duties include the following: • Assist with the oversight of projects performed by the Fiscal Agent as it relates to Managed Care by providing support for development of systems. • Translate business rules into functional requirements for system enhancements. • Receive and investigate reports of system-related problems impacting Medicaid Managed Care reports, encounters, eligibility, payments and other related managed care issues. • Use and reference the Companion Guides for 837, 820, 834 and other guides and resources that may apply to managed care. • Coordinate with the technical teams for the Fiscal Agent, Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and other Medicaid program areas to prioritize and resolve issues. • Document details of all system issues in the tracking system and provide regular status updates to management. • Review results of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) from the Fiscal Agent to confirm system changes function as necessary based on policy.
What youll need to be Successful
To be successful in this role, you will need the following: an understanding of Medicaid policies; ability to grasp new concepts quickly, excellent problem-solving skills; attention to detail; managing multiple tasks; effective communication; good organizational skills; and be proactive with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
