About the Position

This position serves as the Director of Diagnostic Services with responsibility for supervision and oversight of the D&E team and workflow. Provides overall direction of the Diagnostic Services Department which includes planning, directing, and coordinating activities; interpreting and implementing standards; and ensuring adherence to ICF/IID and DMH operational standards and regulations. This position is responsible for a heavy caseload of referrals needing review in a timely manner for ID/DD Waiver services, IDD CSP services, and other services that require an evaluation to determine eligibility. Administers and interprets both formal and informal diagnostic evaluations, i.e. intelligence, adaptive, educational and others, on an individual basis. Reviews medical records, educational records, psychiatric/mental health records, and other records as appropriate. Interviews persons and determines the type of psychometric measures to be performed to fill the particular needs of the person. Prepares reports on test results for presentation at conference with other professional personnel concerning diagnosis, evaluation, prognosis and training, and contributes professional opinion based on findings. Provides technical guidance and review to all aspects of interdisciplinary diagnostic evaluation process. When needed, administers, scores, and interprets psychometric instruments accurately and proficiently utilizing standardized procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and offers appropriate diagnoses. Reviews interdisciplinary evaluation reports for accuracy and consistency, ensuring eligibility criteria is applied. Keeps abreast of new methods and psychometric materials and suggests appropriate materials. Supervises Admissions Social Worker and Transition Coordinator. Review evaluations and file records; review and edit psychological and social evaluations in LTSs; submit DD Form and LOC to PhD and submit final review of file in LTSS; Maintain evaluation time frame spreadsheet as events happen; enter Core Data info sheets in system as they are submitted and also maintain until month is completed; maintain a spreadsheet of admissions/discharges to services; collect required documents, type admission packet, submit all required documents to Reimbursement; collect files requesting placement and TAM's requesting a change; compile agenda and schedule meeting with Director; produce monthly and quarterly report to appropriate DMH and ESS personnel; compile yearly Medicated Cost Report information. Performs related and similar duties as required or assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience. Agency Preferred Qualifications: Two years experience administering/scoring/interpreting individual intelligence test. Successful completion of Master's level courses related to psychological testing/assessment and the Wechsler Intelligence Tests. Employment must have been in an administrative/professional capacity in an area of work related to the functional responsibility of the bureau in which the position exists. In those bureaus where registered specialists provide the primary source of functional and technical knowledge for planning and accomplishing the mission of the bureau, the incumbent may also be required to be registered and experienced in that profession. Work experience must have included supervising and coordinating a variety of functions.
