    General Job Information

    Job Summary

    This position is located in the Central Detention Facility (CDF) or the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF), located at 1901 D Street, SE Washington, DC. This position is located in the District of Columbia, Department of Corrections (DOC), Records Office.

    This is a standardized position description that is utilized for any organizational entity in the District of Columbia Government. The primary purpose of this position is to performs administrative, program and clerical work to support an assigned program and its operations. Incumbent applies a broad and extensive clerical, administrative and technical procedures, methods, and techniques to support management and the program.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Responds to a variety of inquiries and refers other inquiries to appropriate office staff or to other organizations, as required. Ascertains the nature of call or business of visitors and determines appropriate action. Personally, handles many requests for information; and resolves or assists in resolving a variety of conflicts that may arise. Receives and screens incoming correspondence; determines those correspondence that can be acted upon personally; and refers correspondence to supervisor or other appropriate staff personnel, as appropriate.

    Maintains office records, locates, and compiles data/information from files for the development of reports. Keeps a project calendar and informs staff of deadlines, other important dates, and similar administrative support work. Serves as liaison in coordinating the submission of a variety of reports and data to ensure fulfillment of established program requirements. Reconciles monthly reports in an automated data management system, when necessary. Utilizes a personal computer for preparing written documents, responding to emails, storing, or retrieving information.

    Qualifications and Education

    Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

    Work is performed in an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Normal safety precautions are required.

    Tour of Duty: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

    Duration of Appointment: Career Service - Regular

    Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by the DOC and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). You may be required to pay an agency service fee through payroll deduction.

    Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Safety Sensitive. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment and periodic Criminal Background Checks. This position is also subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing.

    TB test will be required for the entry on duty.

    Residency Requirement: Applicants claiming "Residency Preference" will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment.
