Program Underwriter/Delegated Authority Specialist Exton, PA The AXA XL North America Programs Unit provides customized program solutions and underwriting capacity for market-leading delegated-authority Program Administrator partners who underwrite and administer Property and/or Casualty programs on our behalf. The Program Underwriting Specialist provides technical underwriting and program support to Program Managers within North America Delegated Authority Programs. The role supports both new business and existing programs through participation in program evaluation, underwriting due diligence, and the ongoing technical management of active delegated authority relationships. Acting as a technical resource, the Program Underwriting Specialist supports underwriting governance, regulatory alignment, and program execution, operating with sound judgment while working collaboratively across the Programs team and broader organization. This role will report to the Head of Property Programs. What you'll be doing New Business & Program Growth Support new business and program growth initiatives by participating in underwriting due diligence for prospective delegated authority programs, with a focus on sustainable and profitable growth. Review submissions, underwriting guidelines, forms, and supporting materials to assist in evaluating program underwriting approach, and governance considerations. Contribute to preparation of due diligence materials for internal review and approval forums. Ongoing Program Management & Technical Support Provide ongoing technical underwriting support for existing delegated authority programs, including research, program enhancements, expansions, and issue resolution. Support Program Managers through regular interaction on underwriting and documentation matters, helping ensure programs perform in line with key performance measures and profitability objectives. Support periodic program analysis through review of program data and reporting to inform underwriting quality and performance trends. Assist with maintaining disciplined underwriting governance and consistent underwriting quality across active programs. Underwriting Governance & Documentation Support the development, review, and ongoing maintenance of underwriting guidelines, authority statements, and related program documentation, ensuring documentation standards are consistently applied. Ensure alignment between underwriting intent, program documentation, and operational practice. Support ongoing and periodic reviews of underwriting materials as programs evolve. Forms, Rates & Rules / Regulatory Support Analyze insurance forms, rates, and rules for consistency with underwriting intent and program structure. Coordinate form, rate, and rule filing activity with actuarial, legal, and regulatory teams. Support tracking of filings, approvals, objections, and resulting documentation updates. Underwriting Audits & Reviews Support underwriting audits of delegated authority programs, including file reviews and assessment of guideline adherence. Assist with documenting audit findings, tracking remediation efforts, and supporting follow‑up activities. Contribute to audit summaries, underwriting assessments, and management reporting. Collaboration & Execution Independently manage assigned technical workstreams in support of Program Manager objectives. Collaborate across Underwriting, Legal, Claims, Operations, and various Regulatory functions. Contribute as an engaged team member on special projects and initiatives that support program performance and execution. What you will BRING We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Required Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience; insurance-related coursework or professional designations a plus. Deep technical underwriting knowledge, with experience in property and/or casualty lines of business. Experience supporting delegated authority programs, including underwriting guidelines, authority statements, or related governance activities. Familiarity with regulatory concepts, including insurance forms, rates, and rules, and how they align with underwriting intent. Analytical skills with the ability to review information, identify issues, and support sound underwriting and program decisions. Ability to manage work independently while collaborating effectively with Program Managers and cross-functional stakeholders. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills, particularly for technical and underwriting-related topics. Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable operating in a role that supports both growth initiatives and ongoing program execution.
