The Numbers: 150K – 250K+ Total Comp (strong base + variable comp tied to program performance; structure flexes based on scope, existing book, and leadership depth)

Backed by a strong balance sheet and centralized underwriting operations in Overland Park, the organization is structured to support program growth with speed, discipline, and real underwriting control.

Unlike traditional carrier environments where program strategy, underwriting, and distribution are segmented, this model is built around alignment—giving program leaders direct visibility into all three.

The Mission

Own and build a defined specialty P&C underwriting program.

This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of a program—underwriting performance, distribution alignment, and long-term portfolio profitability. You are not stepping into a maintenance role; you are stepping into a position where direction, structure, and growth strategy sit directly on your shoulders.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

• Program Ownership: Take full responsibility for a defined underwriting program, including performance, profitability, and growth trajectory
• Risk Leadership: Lead underwriting decisions across the program, ensuring disciplined risk selection and consistent deal structure
• Growth Strategy: Identify and execute on opportunities to scale the program in a controlled and sustainable way
• Distribution Integration: Work directly with internal and external broker channels to ensure aligned deal flow and program positioning
• Performance Oversight: Monitor program metrics, loss ratios, and portfolio health, making adjustments as needed to maintain long-term results
• Operational Alignment: Partner with underwriting operations and internal teams to ensure execution stays clean as the program scales

Your Toolkit

• The Battle Scars: 10–20+ years in specialty/commercial P&C insurance underwriting with exposure to program business or controlled portfolios
• Program Experience: Direct involvement in underwriting programs, MGAs, or niche portfolios where performance ownership was tied to outcomes
• Technical Depth: Strong underwriting judgment across complex or specialized risk segments
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to see beyond individual submissions and manage performance at the program level
• Execution Mindset: Comfortable operating in environments where you are accountable for both direction and results
