Project Accountant

Company Overview: Our client is a well known, long standing family owned construction firm known for building strong partnerships and delivering top-quality projects across various sectors.

They are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Construction Accounting Specialist to join their team and support ongoing projects.

Responsibilities:

• Monthly Billing & Lien Waivers: Accurately prepare, review, and submit monthly billing statements and lien waivers to architects, owners, and construction managers, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant.
• Subcontractor & Supplier Management: Proactively collect, track, and verify lien waivers from subcontractors and suppliers to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.
• Accounts Receivable Oversight: Monitor accounts receivable to ensure timely collections, resolve discrepancies, and maintain positive relationships with clients.
• Subcontractor & Supplier Payments: Process weekly payments based on approved payment applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines.
• Financial Audits: Collaborate with the accounting team to assist in financial audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Construction Accounting Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction forms and lien waiver procedures.
• Proven Industry Experience: A minimum of 3 years of combined accounting and financial experience, with a focus on construction.
• Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Netsuite, Microsoft Excel; experience with Sage financial software is a plus.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to identify and address financial discrepancies, and recommend improvements in processes.
