We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to support a growing construction operation in the Cedar Rapids area. This role sits at the intersection of accounting and project operations, helping ensure construction projects stay financially on track from start to finish. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with project managers and operations leaders, and translating financial data into meaningful insights that support decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in project financial management while contributing to the continued growth of a well-established organization.

What You Will Do:
  • Track project budgets, costs, and commitments while analyzing project financial performance and profitability
  • Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support percent-completion revenue recognition
  • Monitor job cost reporting and analyze budget-to-actual variances across active projects
  • Manage project billing, invoices, change orders, and subcontractor payments while ensuring costs align with approved budgets
  • Partner with project managers and operations leaders to review project metrics, financial performance, and WIP reporting
  • Support monthly financial reporting and maintain accurate general ledger and project financial data
What You Will Need to Be Successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Construction Project Accounting experience required
  • Familiarity with job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and percent-completion accounting concepts
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with project managers and operational teams
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; experience with construction accounting software is a plus
