Project Accountant


A growing construction company is looking for a Project Accountant to serve as the financial backbone for projects from startup through closeout. This role works closely with Project Managers to keep budgets, billing, and cost data accurate and current.
Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers on job costing, budget tracking, committed costs, change orders, and billing status
• Set up and maintain project cost structures, budgets, cost codes, and contract values
• Code and post labor, materials, subcontractor, and equipment costs to the correct project
• Track actual, committed, and projected costs to support cost-to-complete forecasting and margin analysis
• Prepare budget-to-actual reports, variance analyses, and billing summaries for management
• Support work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and progress billing
• Manage schedule of values, retainage tracking, and change order billing
• Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, and payment readiness
• Support compliance items, including W-9s, certificates of insurance, and lien waivers
• Track receivables and coordinate communication between accounting, PMs, and customers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years of construction accounting experience
• Strong grasp of job costing, project accounting, and internal controls
• Experience with QuickBooks required; Procore, Foundation, Sage, Vista, or CMiC a plus
• Strong Excel skills, including reconciliation and financial presentation
