Description

Key respon sibilites of the project accountant include:

  • Monitor and maintain accurate financial records for assigned construction and development projects
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
  • Track job costs, identify variances, and provide analysis to support decision-making
  • Support monthly close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment between financials and project progress
  • Oversee billing processes, including preparation of invoices, lien waivers, and collections follow-up
  • Review contracts and change orders to ensure proper financial treatment
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and industry regulations
  • Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed
  • Maintain communication with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, and leadership teams

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based environments
  • Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and clearly communicate insights to non-finance stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience supporting month-end close and reconciliations
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with project managers and operations teams
  • Familiarity with contracts, billing cycles, and change order processing
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
