Description

  • Key responsibilites of the project accountant include:
  • Manage day-to-day financial tracking for multiple construction projects, including job costing and expense allocation
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and detailed cost reports
  • Analyze project financial performance and highlight variances against budget
  • Support billing processes, including preparing invoices and monitoring collections
  • Assist with month-end close activities such as journal entries and reconciliations
  • Collaborate with project managers to align financial data with project progress and timelines
  • Review contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements for accurate financial treatment
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and construction industry standards
  • Maintain organized and accurate project documentation for audits and reporting
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve project profitability

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2-5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within construction or project-based environments
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP (work-in-progress), and project financial reporting
  • Proficiency with accounting software and strong Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and variances
  • Strong communication skills for working with project managers and leadership
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and organization
  • Experience with billing processes, including AIA or progress billing, is a plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
