This role works directly alongside Project Managers and executive leadership to manage the full billing lifecycle, track job costs, execute change orders, and maintain strict compliance standards from project kickoff through final closeout.

We are seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated Permanent Project Accountant to join our thriving Accounting and Finance team. This role will be instrumental in providing financial information and undertaking related accounts administration for our various projects. If you are detail-oriented, have a knack for problem-solving, and are looking for a role that is both challenging and rewarding, this is the opportunity for you.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Project Accountant, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing all financial aspects of assigned projects, including job costing, change orders, subcontractor and general contractor accounts.
2. Utilizing the viewpoint system to maintain accurate and updated project financial data.
3. Preparing, reviewing and submitting AIA billings and pay applications on a monthly basis.
4. Collaborating with project managers to review project budgets, cost codes, and purchase orders.
5. Processing lien waivers and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted on time.
6. Maintaining the WIP schedule and providing timely updates to the management team.
7. Monitoring and tracking T&M and percentage of completion on assigned projects.
8. Performing account reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and resolving all irregularities promptly.
9. Providing financial analysis and forecasting for projects, identifying potential areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a project accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
3. Proficiency in job costing, viewpoint, change orders, subcontractors, general contractor, AIA billing, pay applications, lien waivers, WIP, T&M, and percentage of completion.
4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, with a specific focus on project accounting.
5. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software.
8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
9. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
