Kforce has a client that is seeking a Project Accounting Manager in Jacksonville, FL. Summary: We are seeking an experienced Project Accounting Manager to oversee, streamline, and maintain quality control across our project accounting function and its subsidiaries. This key leadership role ensures financial compliance, accurate reporting, and the delivery of exceptional internal and external financial services. The ideal candidate will deeply understand operational finance and drive both team performance and accurate project visibility. Key Responsibilities:
  • Revenue & Profit Recognition: Oversee accurate tracking, accounting, and proper recognition of revenue and gross profits across various business units
  • KPI Analysis: Monitor and analyze project-specific profitability, performance metrics, and financial KPIs
  • Financial Reporting: Supervise the preparation of periodic financial statements, ensuring strict compliance with US GAAP and other relevant financial reporting standards
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Project Accountants; Direct workload distribution, handle performance management, and foster a collaborative, professional development-focused culture
  • Internal Controls: Implement and monitor robust internal controls to ensure precision in cost management, job costing, billing, and contract modifications
  • Audit & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors for annual reviews, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory standards, and verify adherence to corporate accounting policies
  • Systems & Integration: Participate in the development and rollout of key financial processing systems and provide accounting support for new business integrations and acquisitions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is highly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in project-based, contract, or construction accounting, including at least 2 years in a dedicated accounting management or supervisory role
  • Deep understanding of revenue recognition principles and contract accounting under US GAAP; Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory standards, including sales and use tax regulations
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience working with robust accounting databases/specialized project or construction accounting software
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of analyzing complex job costs and P&L components
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with executive leadership, internal teams, and outside stakeholders
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak deadlines and travel overnight as required by business needs

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
