Job Position: Project Administrator/Coordinator (Commercial Construction) Location: Detroit, MI Position Type: Full-Time Base Salary: $50K-60K/year
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support our commercial construction team in the Detroit area. In this role, you will serve as the central communication hub for field operations, office administration, and project management teams. You will be responsible for maintaining project documentation, coordinating schedules, tracking materials, and ensuring seamless administrative flow across multiple commercial projects from pre-construction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Project Support: Maintain organized digital and physical project files, including job binders, directory logs, project manuals, and correspondence.
Document & Drawing Control: Receive, log, distribute, and archive architectural plans, structural drawings, specifications, and addenda.
RFI & Submittal Management: Track the status of Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and shop drawings through review cycles to ensure timely approvals.
Meeting Coordination: Schedule project meetings, prepare agendas, record comprehensive meeting minutes, and track the completion of action items.
Procurement & Vendor Assistance: Gather quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, assist with preparing bid packages, and help compile vendor compliance documents (e.g., insurance certificates, W-9s).
Billing & Financial Support: Assist project managers with processing subcontractor invoices, tracking change order logs, and compiling data for monthly billing cycles.
Logistics & Communication: Coordinate project delivery schedules, communicate with field superintendents regarding material arrivals, and manage office-to-field communication channels.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
3-8 years of experience in administrative coordination, project support, or document control within the construction, engineering, or real estate development sectors.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Plangrid, or MS Project) is strongly preferred.
