All assigned areas of the hospital are cleaned, maintained, and serviced using assorted cleaning supplies, agents, and equipment. Hospital project work is completed using heavy cleaning equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Job Description: ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES including but not limited to: 1. Follows work schedule or assigned schedule and performs all daily and weekly job tasks to meet department standards of cleanliness. a. Understands and follows department standards at all times. b. Follows specific project instructions and responds to work assignments from the manager or lead person all of the time. c. Manages work time in an efficient manner and completes project work by the end of the shift. d. Operates various types of heavy equipment to meet job demands. 2. Performs all job duties in the competency model for the heavy environmental services aide as needed or scheduled. 3. Participates on various work teams to complete hospital project work as assigned. Works as an effective team member all of the time. 4. Operates and uses assorted heavy cleaning equipment, such as floor refinishers, buffers, and various types of automated equipment, using established and safe operating methods all of the time. 5. Performs all types of cleaning and maintenance, which may require the use of ladders and working from heights. 6. Performs moving duties involving lifting and moving of boxes, file cabinets, office furniture, equipment, etc., that requires the use of concentrated physical effort. Always follows safe lifting and moving techniques. 7. Takes the initiative to make sufficient time for low and high dusting of assigned areas. Keeps vents dust free. 8. Inspects work area and performs necessary cleaning tasks independently. 9. Maintains equipment and keeps all equipment clean and safe. Notifies supervisor of any equipment problems or unsafe working conditions. 10. Provides assistance with the training of new staff, as well as the retraining of staff as requested. 11. Attends hospital/departmental inservices and meetings as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Cleaning experience in a hospital or industrial setting, with experience in sanitation principles and techniques. 2. Experience in operating heavy cleaning equipment. Must be able to lift heavy items and move them to and from various locations. 3. Ability to read and write so as to understand directions and warnings on cleaning supplies and various postings, and to complete daily logs/work assignments. 4. Interpersonal skills to be pleasant and courteous and to interact with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital staff. 5. Ability to pay close attention to detail. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Physical demands include lifting objects over 100 pounds, as well as lifting heavy objects from floor to waist and moving heavy loads from place to place. Ability to operate various heavy equipment. 2. Spends approximately 95% of the time doing manual labor that includes walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (including stairs), and lifting objects, for a majority of the workday. 3. Some exposure to infectious hazardous materials and contact with water and cleaning and disinfecting solutions. Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.88 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
