As a Project Appointment Researcher, you will be on a temporary assignment at MCW for the purposes of acquiring a new research skill/s or technique (similar to a sabbatical).
Genomic Data Processing & Pipeline Execution: Assist with implementing/running new analyses (5'UTR; new CNV and splice algorithms) and managing the primary genome data processing pipelines.
Sequencing Data Review: Review and process backlogged de novo data alongside incoming sequencing data from the University of Minnesota Genomics Center (UMGC).
Data Management & Cost Optimization: Evaluate current storage footprints (e.g., archiving VCF files) to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Archive System Evaluation: Assess the feasibility of migrating infrequently accessed data over to the new, lower-cost Research Computing Center (RCC) data archive system.
HPC Software Integration: Assist with the deployment and optimization of Golden Helix VarSeq software within the High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education: Master’s degree in a scientific or medical field
Minimum Required Experience: 0 years
Preferred Education: Doctorate degree in a scientific or medical field
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
