Job Description:
CDM Smith is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering and architecture firm delivering complex, large-scale projects across water and wastewater, transit, industrial facilities, and commercial spaces. Our work also spans office design, facility planning, and condition assessments.
As an Architect at CDM Smith, you’ll join a collaborative team of technical experts tackling impactful projects across Environmental, Industrial, Commercial, Transportation, and Water sectors, offering the chance to shape innovative solutions and make a lasting difference in the communities we serve.
The Architect will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop design criteria directly with clients. Lead preparation of presentation materials and make presentations.
- Lead development and coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
- Coordinate building design development with architectural and engineering staff.
- Lead and guide junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects.
- Plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.
- Lead determination of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing and specifications.
- Lead compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.
- Lead development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external. Monitor projects through close out.
- Support sales, meet with clients and serve as a Project Manager for Architectural driven projects.
Skills & Abilities:
- Expert technical knowledge and design application knowledge.
- Expert knowledge of technologies and methodologies in the use of construction materials.
- Expert knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), preferably AutoCAD and Revit. Familiarity with modeling and rendering software programs.
- Expert knowledge of basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
- 8 years of related experience.
- Must possess RA certification.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LEED AP preferred.
- Demonstrated performance in a leadership role.
- Fluency with basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Appropriate writing and interpersonal skills.
Amount of Travel Required:
10% or less
Driving Requirements :
An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

Additional Compensation :
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.

USD $100,194.00
Pay Range Max:
USD $175,365.00
