Industry and government have designed sixteen critical sectors where data plays an elemental role in the development, communication, processing, and storage of our vast amounts of data. From command-and-control centers to hyperscale data center campuses and a range of project types in-between; Gensler's Baltimore office is expanding our mission critical facilities services and is looking for a technically proficient architect to lead this emerging practice area.

Your Role

As a Gensler Architect, you will produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members to ensure success. You're a fit for this role if you have experience with construction documentation, are proficient with Revit, and enjoy working with a team of architects and interior designers that bring design dreams to life. We are seeking an Architect with a technical mindset and a desire to learn, design and deliver Critical Facilities projects. Our new team member will gravitate toward engineering forward project types and thrive with technical first project typology.

What You Will Do

  • Design and deliver functional and beautiful spaces within the Critical Facilities, Government and Defense, Sciences, and Industrial Practice Areas
  • Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation
  • Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction
  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Utilize 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 6-10+ years of experience within the commercial architecture and design field, with recent focus on project delivery, Data Center, Command Centers, and Secured Spaces experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation is preferred
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other 3D modeling software
  • Successful completion of project types such as laboratories, data centers, command centers, high-tech- factories, and/or federal, state, and local government facility spaces
  • Registered/Licensed Architect (RA) in the U.S., NCARB
  • Commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices

*The estimated base salary range for this position is $85-110k, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, with final compensation contingent on relevant experience.
