WATG is hiring a Project Architect for our office in New York.
The Project Architect is responsible for project deliverables, the technical content of documents, the implementation of comments, QA reviews, and the coordination of disciplines, including consultants. A licensed architect who directs the work assignments of a diverse project team as well as coordinates with clients, consultants, and contractors. The Project Architect is accountable to the Project Manager and Project Designer for project performance and team communications.
Responsibilities include ensuring the overall design intent of the project established by the Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed project documentation, monitoring the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, and validating that the design idea is properly executed. The Project Architect is responsible for the technical resolution and coordination of a defined portion of one or more projects, including the coordination of drawings and specifications. They review the accuracy and completeness of reports, plans, estimates, and calculations, and coordinate and track shared electronic documentation and files with the project team, clients, and consultants.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in architecture, a professional license required, environmental accreditation preferred, 10+ years of experience designing small to mid-size architectural projects, including urban and resort hotels, mixed-use and renovation projects. Proficiency in technical skills, including AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software, like Rhino and SketchUp is required. Strong proficiency in Revit is required, sketching skills are required, and knowledge of architectural building systems, integrated design, trends, construction methodology, QA/QC process, CA process, and building codes is necessary. Experience in client management and negotiations is required, as well as effective project management skills, keeping within established deadlines and budgets. Works successfully in a team environment, and excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills are required. Travel may be required.
Salary range: $100,000-$120,000 per year
