An award-winning architecture firm is seeking an experienced Project Architect to provide technical leadership and support the delivery of complex embassy campus projects around the world. This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level architect who enjoys being deeply involved in both design and technical execution, and who can serve as a bridge between emerging professionals and senior project leadership. You will help shape schematic design concepts, ensure they are carried through to high-quality construction documentation, and mentor junior staff while maintaining project momentum on multiple high-profile, international projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production and coordination of comprehensive construction document sets in Revit for complex embassy and government-related projects.
  • Review drawing sets, technical details, and project documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project goals.
  • Provide detailed redlines, technical guidance, and feedback to junior architects and designers to elevate the overall quality of project deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to project standards, building codes, and client requirements throughout all phases of design and documentation.
  • Offer an additional layer of project oversight and quality control to help remove review bottlenecks and keep projects on schedule.
  • Serve as a key technical resource responsible for the successful delivery of complex architectural projects from schematic design through construction documentation.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, strengthening both their technical skill sets and their understanding of the full project lifecycle.
  • Support project planning, staffing, and workflow management to maintain efficient and effective project execution.
  • Guide projects from early schematic design concepts through design development, construction documentation, and eventual delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with senior project leadership to maintain project schedules, milestones, and performance targets.
  • Coordinate with engineering and specialty consultants, ensuring that architectural, structural, mechanical, and other disciplines are fully integrated.
  • Participate in planning meetings and project coordination sessions, representing architectural priorities and resolving design challenges.
  • Communicate technical requirements clearly across internal teams and external consultants, facilitating alignment and timely decision-making.
  • Support ongoing collaboration between architecture, planning, and consultant teams throughout the entire project execution process.

Essential Skills

  • Licensed Architect with active professional registration.
  • 7-10+ years of architectural experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong experience in schematic design, including the ability to shape and evaluate design concepts early in the process.
  • Proven background in design development and construction documentation for complex commercial or institutional projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, including performing design changes and producing detailed construction document sets.
  • Experience with construction administration and coordination of construction documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex project teams and multiple consultants across disciplines.
  • Experience reviewing, guiding, and mentoring junior architectural staff.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both internal teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including project oversight and quality control.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with federal, institutional, civic, international, or embassy projects is highly desirable.
  • background in architectural design, design development, and construction administration for commercial projects.
  • Ability to serve as a bridge between emerging professionals and senior project leaders, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Interest in working on high-profile government and federal projects, including the potential to obtain a security clearance.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and participating in structured professional development programs.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support project sites when needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of design quality, technical rigor, and project execution.

Work Environment

The firm offers a very casual yet fast-paced work environment with a strong emphasis on collaboration, learning, and professional growth. The team recently moved into a brand-new office space and is focused on creating an inclusive atmosphere with a relaxed dress code and regular social activities, such as monthly team events and weekly lunch-and-learn sessions where lunch is provided. The studio maintains a heavy backlog of work, providing stability and opportunities for overtime during busy periods. Team members can expect to work diligently on complex, high-profile government and international projects, with the potential to obtain a security clearance and travel to project sites. The organization supports flexible in-office presence several days per week and offers an official mentoring program, assigning each new hire a mentor to help pursue professional development goals, whether in technical project architect paths, project management, or registration.
