Project Assistant (SCADA)

Location: Akron, OH
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Opportunity

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Project Assistant (SCADA) to support SCADA testing and commissioning projects. This position will work closely with SCADA Engineering, project management, field technicians, and client teams to help coordinate project activities, verify project readiness, maintain accurate project tracking information, and provide administrative and field support throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Key Responsibilities

Project Collaboration

  • Work with client and SCADA Engineering teams to support successful project execution.
  • Verify project scope, work orders, change tickets, and RTU outage requests prior to SCADA testing and commissioning activities.
  • Identify, communicate, and help resolve project issues as they arise.
  • Attend weekly client meetings and provide requested project information and updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SCADA Project Tracking

  • Verify SCADA configurations are ready prior to scheduled field project dates.
  • Confirm EMS upload dates are scheduled and completed prior to field project dates.
  • Coordinate with EMS testers to assign testers to each SCADA job.
  • Provide regular project updates and maintain accurate job completion status for projects tracked in the SCADA database.
  • Update project tracking fields, including SCORES and Engineering Support information, as needed.
  • Schedule field technicians to capture as-found configurations when requested by the Engineering Department.
  • Verify all contracted SCADA jobs scheduled for the upcoming week with the Project Manager and field personnel.

Field Support

  • Request and coordinate site access for contracted SCADA technicians.
  • Assist field technicians in locating the appropriate U-drive folders and project information for SCADA jobs.
  • Support field technicians with project documentation and administrative requirements.

Field Technician Project Reports

  • Edit and create Technician Project Report documents based on feedback and information provided by field technicians.
  • Assist technicians with paperwork and answer questions regarding project documentation requirements.
  • Verify the submission and accuracy of project reports.
  • Maintain an Excel tracking spreadsheet to document project report submissions and completion status.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or
  • Associate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor's Degree with some relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Power BI.
  • Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience supporting SCADA, electrical utility, engineering, testing and commissioning, or field service projects.
  • Experience working with project databases, tracking systems, or technical documentation.
