Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading precast concrete manufacturer to place a Project Checker in Westmont, IL. In this role, you will review and verify erection plans, component drawings, and fabrication schedules to ensure complete accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project specs.

Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced knowledge of precast concrete drafting and manufacturing standards.
- Cross-reference contract specs, addenda, and bid estimates against design files to validate project scope.
- Perform thorough audits of erection drawings and shop tickets for approval status, precision, and completeness.
- Spot constructability enhancements to streamline field execution and lower material expenses.
- Track bill-of-materials against initial bid estimates to surface discrepancies early.
- Issue approved piece drawings to the plant floor a minimum of 48 hours ahead of production runs.
- Confirm all loose hardware, embed plates, and connections are fully detailed prior to casting.
- Partner with PMs, engineering leads, and scheduling teams to preserve milestone dates.
- Translate complex project documentation and contractual terms into actionable production steps.
- Audit internal and third-party consultant drawings for dimensional accuracy and structural clarity.
- Resolve design conflicts proactively alongside design and management teams.
- Foster collaborative relationships with external architects, structural engineers, and general contractors.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in precast structural detailing, drafting, or quality checking.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit (Autodesk certification preferred).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Solid command of precast concrete systems, shop practice, and structural blueprints.
- Familiarity with LecWall systems is highly advantageous.
- High attention to detail with exceptional organization and interpersonal communication skills.
