About the OpportunitySWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Project Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Pittsburgh, PA. Specializing in energy project site civil design, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, our team delivers high‑quality solutions to clients across the U.S.We seek skilled Project Civil Engineers with expertise in civil site design, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and robust project management capabilities. The ideal candidate will lead engineering projects, manage junior staff, and engage in business development activities, collaborating with CAD designers, GIS analysts, environmental biologists, regulatory agencies, municipalities, and clients.Job LevelsAssociate Project Civil Engineer – typically with at least six years of relevant experience and a PE license required.Project Civil Engineer – typically with at least seven years of relevant experience and a PE license required.What you will accomplishLead engineering design and development of construction drawings.Oversee CAD design efforts and mentor junior engineer staff on CAD design standards and methods.Manage project scope, budget, and schedule to ensure successful project delivery.Provide technical expertise and guidance across regional SWCA offices.Coordinate with engineering teams to balance workloads and meet project schedules and budgets.Conduct technical reviews of project deliverables to ensure accuracy and consistency.Assist with Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes.Take responsibility for team safety, develop safety plans when applicable, and anticipate potential safety hazards.Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project management.Identify and pursue new business opportunities through client relationships, networking, and collaboration with other SWCA offices.Experience and QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related engineering field.At least four years of experience in civil engineering for the Associate Project Civil Engineer and at least five years for the Project Civil Engineer.Professional Engineer License in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain via reciprocity.Preferred Qualifications:Seven or more years of experience in civil/stormwater design.Additional PE license in surrounding states.Experience supporting proposal development, business development, and client management.Salary and BenefitsAssociate Project Civil Engineer – $82,347.00 to $105,716.00 per year.Project Civil Engineer – $93,475.00 to $120,182.00 per year.Candidates are also eligible to consider SWCA's Total Rewards package, which includes a competitive benefits package, forward‑thinking workplace flexibility, outstanding corporate culture, award‑winning career development, and performance bonuses.EOE – women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
