Overview:

This position reports to Finance leadership and supports the Products Pipelines business unit through financial analysis, project cost control, and reporting. The role partners closely with Operations, Accounting, Commercial teams, and Project Managers to deliver accurate financial insights, monitor performance, and support strategic planning, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Track and analyze financial and operational performance of segment assets
  • Prepare and coordinate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, including forecasts, variance analysis, trend reporting, and management reports
  • Support monthly reviews, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), annual budgets, and long-range planning processes
  • Develop and maintain recurring and ad hoc financial reports to support business decision-making
  • Assist in preparation of executive-level presentations and meeting reports

Project Cost Control & Forecasting

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed project cost reports and forecasting models (EAC, ETC, current/future year spend, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor budgets, track project spending, and identify potential cost overruns
  • Analyze variances, trends, and irregularities to identify key drivers and communicate insights to leadership
  • Support annual budget preparation and ongoing forecast revisions
  • Monitor contingency usage and project completion milestones

Accounting, Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure accurate classification of costs in accordance with GAAP, FERC, and company policies
  • Support audit and compliance requirements, including adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls
  • Review and validate accruals, commitments, invoices, and change orders
  • Assist with AFE/PRN documentation and approval processes
  • Maintain proper documentation supporting financial transactions and reporting

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as liaison between Finance, Accounting, Operations, Commercial teams, and Project Management
  • Support field operations and regional teams with reporting, analysis, and issue resolution
  • Participate in cost review meetings, budget discussions, and project status meetings
  • Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and expansion projects

Process Improvement & Special Projects

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting tools, forecasting processes, and data accuracy
  • Develop automation and enhancements using Excel and other systems
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and participate in special projects
Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • Typically 3–7 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, or project cost controls
  • Experience in energy, pipelines, logistics, or similar industries preferred

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Access, VBA, or similar tools preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Lawson or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
